Annie, I really wanted a DSLR but just did not want to lug it around. I was very happy with my decision. I have seen a big difference in photo quality. What cameras are you considering?

I haven’t really done much camera research (although I did go back and read your old posts from when you were shopping – thanks!). Your G9 is something I might consider.
I have a Canon SD800 ELPH and I love the size. I’ve been happy with most of my photos except for the ones taken indoors. I’ve thought about going to the top-of-the-line ELPH but a friend told me that it wouldn’t be that different from what I’ve already got. It might be that I need to keep this camera for traveling and get something else for home and indoor photos. What do you think?

Annie, if taking photos indoors in dim light is a priority, you might want to consider upgrading. The G9 was not too bulky (although definitely bigger than the ELPH series). I just read that the new G10 will be coming out in October. There haven’t been any reviews on it yet. You might be able to find a good deal on the G9 somewhere. There are also other new cameras that have recently been announced. Are there any good camera stores in your area (that don’t push a camera on you)? That might be a place to start. It is always a challenge finding that “perfect camera”.
