“furry”~ PhotoHunt

When I checked the theme list for the upcoming themes a couple of weeks, I thought to myself, who the heck suggested fury! I had no idea what I was going to post. I think I even made a comment on a couple of blogs about how this week’s theme was going to be very challenging. Yesterday out of the blue before I saw any PhotoHunt posts for this week, it dawned on me that the theme was not fury but instead furry! Now that one is easy. I decided to go with photos a little bit *outside the box*.

I took the first two with an old point and shoot camera in the spring of 2004 at the Hamakua Marsh in Kailua. Photos are a blurry…

I took the next photo just before sunset in poor lighting, leaning over a guardrail before I knew the theme for this week was furry. If I had, I would have gone back and taken a few photos in better light. I should know the name of this flower, but I don’t.

I took the last photo at Kualoa Ranch. I am putting this photo on the second page so that my friend Sandra will have ample warning to not look so I won’t freak her out.

I wasn’t sure if an ostrich would fit in the furry category. I found this link talking about the furry feathers:

Furry Feathers : The feathers of adult males are mostly black, with some white on the wings and tail. Females and young males are grayish-brown, with a bit of white. The small vestigial wings are used by males in mating displays. They can also provide shade for chicks. The feathers are soft and serve as insulation, and are quite different from the stiff airfoil feathers of flying birds.

Even without google, the feathers look furry to me.

  1. You thought it was FURY?! Now I understand why you thought it was a tough theme, LOL. These are great outside-the-box images. I like them all but think that the first two are very beautiful.

  2. Hi Girasoli, I like your take on the theme. That pink flower is really cool looking. The leafy part looks familiar to me but not the pick furry part. And I agree that the feathers look more furry than feather like.
Very nicely done on this week’s photo theme! Have a great weekend!

  4. The photos are all fabulous! Funny to think that the theme might have been fury. I would have struggled with that one for sure.
There’s a world famous ostrich festival in my hometown coming up next month. I’ve never been to the festivities because I don’t find amusing to watch ostrich races.

  5. OK, I was a bit scared to look after the warning, but as I really like birds, I was glad to see one! :)
I am sweltering and very unhappy in the heat. 100 degrees here yesterday.
My house air conditioning comes on Monday. I’m getting two of those units up on the wall.

  7. Thanks everyone!! Let’s hope tnchick doesn’t see this post and decide on adding fury to the list :)
María, I am not a big ostrich fan either. Their kicking freaks me out a little. That sounds sort of cruel to have them race.

  8. Kim, thanks so much. I appreciate your comment.
Easy Desserts, thanks so much for stopping by and for the comment. Your blog is cool. Easy recipes are just what I need :)
I am truly humbled weekly by all the positive comments I receive from everyone, especially for my photohunt posts. If I could choose any profession, being a photographer would be tops on my list. I still have so much to learn but enjoy the process and love the challenge of weekly photohunt posts.
