another baseball season begins…

Eleven more hours and the Red Sox will begin a brand new season!! I am so psyched! We have a great team this year. Ahhh, baseball makes me sooooo happy!!

The Red Sox are playing their first game at home this year. Hopefully the weather will hold out. Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast. Below are some photos from today’s Boston Globe of the team working out.

GO SOX!!!

I also have to give a shout out for Annie’s basketball team. The game for all the marbles is tomorrow night. Go Heels!!

*Edited Monday (from the Red Sox site): “Not taking any chances, the Red Sox saved fans the annoyance of sitting through excessive delays and inclement weather by announcing shortly after 10 a.m. ET on Monday that the team’s first Fenway Park season opener since 2002 had been rescheduled for Tuesday at 4:05 p.m. ET. “

  1. Go Sox! And thanks for the shout out!
Tonight’s the night for the Tar Heels. I’m a little bit nervous about the fact that Michigan St. has home court advantage playing in Detroit, but I think my Heels can do it. Gonna be a looooong day until game time at 9:21 pm Eastern. Go Heels!

  2. Why did I not think you would already know this info about the rain delay? Are you SURE you are not still in Boston?
The rain has actually stopped (1:18 EST) and the sky is brightening….but the delay might calm new season nerves and a little more rest can’t hurt the pitcher’s arm:-)
You have heard, I’m sure, the news from Italy? Prayers Menehune

  4. Hi Girasoli, I’m so happy that you’re so happy that baseball season is finally here! Whoo hoo for your Red Sox! Loved all the photos. I’m sure that M is excited too! It’s too bad for the rain delay, but I’m sure it’s for the best that they rescheduled. Hopefully the weather will be perfect for your Red Sox tomorrow!
And that’s so funny, because I just wrote a post this morning and gave a shout out to Annie’s Tar Heels too! :) I’m excited for all three of you!

  5. We won!!! 5-3. It is so nice to win our opening game at home and also the first game of the season. The cherry on top is that right now we are in first place :) Woohoo!!!
Annie, I am soooo happy for you! Yay Tar Heels!!! Great game!
menehune, the Red Sox site is my home page. I check it every day first thing. Before the internet, Sox news was hard to come by here in Hawaii. The internet has really opened up the world to so much…including the Red Sox!! Great game today! GO SOX!!!
sandra, I always loved that baseball meant spring and then summer. I think that is one reason why baseball always agreed with me :)
Kathy, it actually worked out better for me. The game started 2 hours later which allowed me to listen to a few innings (including 3 of the 5 runs scored) during my lunch break. Gameday Audio. Fabulous invention!
candi, yes!! Go So!! Glad Bill is excited too :)
