The weather was was sunny with beautiful blue skies almost every day while I was in Steamboat. There even were a few warm days (or at least warm for wintertime in the mountains – 40’s rather than in the teens and below). And then, the one day my aunt & I decided to walk around downtown, the skies were gray.Even so, I think these photos capture winter and the Christmas spirit in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

I took this one quickly while in the middle of the road, crossing the street…
Howelsen Hill behind a group of shops…
Close up of Howelsen Hill, a famous spot for ski jumping…
Looking towards Sleeping Giant (west end of town)…
My aunt in front of the Steamboat Art Company store…
A juke box and soda fountain inside Lyon’s corner drugstore…
The horse outside of F.M. Light & Sons…
Silly signs inside one of the stores downtown…
At one point, my aunt said she needed to go to the apple store. I immediately thought of a store selling apples (the fruit). Surprise! Steamboat has a little Apple Store, not an official one, but a store that sells Apple products.
Here is a close up of the store. Check out the lights. Pretty cool!
Another view of the mountain one street back from the main street.
AND downtown Steamboat at night…
I certainly can’t complain living in such a beautiful place, but I miss Steamboat. Something about that little town pulls at my heart. I miss the snow! I just don’t miss the bitter cold.
As you may notice in these photos, there is not a lot of snow in the town. My first winter back in Steamboat in years, and I was there during one of the least snowy Decembers in years.
What a cute town! A great place to spend the holidays.

Hi Girasoli, awesome photo collection. I can’t believe how super close Steamboat is to the ski resorts. Seems like maybe only a 30 minute drive away. It looks like a wonderful place to live, no wonder your aunt looks so happy. And I love that they have an Apple dedicated store. :)
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos.

Hi Kathy, the mountain is right in the town. I would say 5, maybe 10 minutes from downtown. Glad you enjoyed the photos :)
