  1. Aloha.
I just found your blog on Bleeding Espresso’s blog links. I was attracted by the name, having just returned from Hawaii where my husband was visiting a collaborator in cancer research, the head of the new University of Hawaii Cancer Center, Dr. Michele Carbone. Both times we have been to Hawaii, Dr. Carbone has invited a group of physicians and scientists and physician-scientists to his home where he dons a chef’s toque and prepares pasta and/or risotto. When we drove up to his house this time, we noticed a sign on it indicating that he is the Italian consul to Hawaii. Given your two loves, I wondered if you had crossed paths with Dr. Carbone.
Dr. Carbone has invited my husband to do a sabbatical at the Cancer Center, an offer we are seriously entertaining for next winter.
You might enjoy one of my recent blog posts which has photos of some things that struck me as odd (in a funny/good way) during our recent trip.

  2. Hi Suzanne,
Somehow your comment got stuck in my spam folder. After publishing it, I reply with a comment but that also seemed to disappear! No, I do not know Dr. Carbone. Sounds like he is a great cook! Hawaii has a lot of nutty signs!

  3. Hi Amy!
Thanks! I have not decided yet. Did not plan an Italy trip (and probably too late now) because there was serious talk of strike. Thankfully, the State & union finally settled last weekend.
I just read another amazing book last weekend – The Unmistakable Touch of Grace by Cheryl Richardson and am now reading My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Yalor and Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. A Course in Miracles will be my 2-year plan book the way I am going reading this one!
