Two big changes will be happening in my life next year…
I am retiring from teaching in June and I will be moving to Steamboat next summer!
I found a condo while spending time there this summer. The condo has a gas log so hopefully that will keep me warm enough during the winter months!
I have 146 days left of school to go! Meanwhile, I’ll be packing and shipping stuff as well as getting my condo here ready to sell.
So… what do you think? I was thinking shave ice, gelato & snow but then my uncle suggested shave ice, gelato & snow cones. Snow cones really don’t have any significant meaning in Colorado but it is a catchy name. The only “Colorado” food that I can think of would be Rocky Mountain Oysters. Don’t be fooled now, those oysters have nothing to do with the ocean oysters!
I’m sort of 50 50 right now on either snow or snow cones but have a while yet to think about it. Any thoughts?
*This post seemed so sad without a photo, so I recently added one. Not the best view of downtown Steamboat, but it will do for now.
Hi Girasoli, wow! Great news. Congrats on your upcoming retirement (wish I could say the same) and closing on your new home. Now you’re that much closer to Italy. Good luck on the sale of your current home in Hawaii. Looks like a completely brand new chapter in your life awaits. 146 days will fly by. How fun!
I like “Shave Ice, Gelato & Snow Cones”

Hi Kathy! Thanks :)
I thought you were close also? I am very excited to start the new chapter in my life! Of course, I am also focusing on being grateful for every day I spend here in this beautiful place before I move.
Thanks for your opinion on my blog name. Still need to think about it . . . I am sure I will know what to do once I make the move.

Hi Girasoli,
I think you should not change the name of the blog. It is your signature. Why change the name every time you yourself move? But I do like your blogger name better. Why not name it just Girasoli & Gelato?

Hi Maria,
Thanks for your thoughts. I don’t think I will add girasoli to the title but may just keep the same name. Not sure yet.
I also wanted to let you know that I did reply to your comment on this blog regarding my family history. I am no longer checking in on my old blog and did leave that info in my final post. It was too much to leave the message in all previous posts also. As I wrote in my comment on this blog, the names and dates of your relatives do not match my family relatives. Kaplan as I found out is a very popular name. I wish you luck in your pursuit.

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure how I have missed your reply about the Kaplan family history… Thank you for letting me know. I will search for my Kaplans elsewhere
:)
Good luck with your move.

Oh my gosh, I am just seeing your post now – this IS a big move, how exciting for you!! Nice that you can move in the summertime and get acclimatized before spending a full winter in your new home. I too will hope your gas log keeps you warm, as I’m sure it will. :)
As for a name change…I like ‘snow cones’, just because it continues the theme of tasty treats. Although, thinking about winter treats in Colorado, you could also go with something like “shave ice, gelato, and hot toddies” haha!
