I have stayed in Venice three times (as well as once in Venice Mestre). The first time, I stayed in the Rialto sestiere (neighborhood), the second time in the Santa Croce sestiere, and the third time in the Cannaregio sestiere. Santa Croce was my favorite sestiere.
Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, a very cool place to hang out:
La Zucca ~ my very favorite place to eat in Venice, also located in the Santa Croce sestiere.
Two more photos taken nearby Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio soon after I arrived in Venice in 2006:
Lovely photos that really show the beauty of Venice.

Lovely photos of Venice. I was thinking that I hadn’t been to that sestiere but I recognized the Campo. I’m pretty certain I’ve been there. I think I had a gelato. :)

Love these photos! Its’ my favorite sestiere and La Zucca is my favorite restaurant too. And my favorite wine bar, Al Prosecco, is visible in your second photo (the red building with the umbrellas in front)!

Great photos, oh I am getting so excited to leave on my trip. I will have to find that restaurant, and try the bar too!! We are renting an apt in the Cannaregio sestiere.

SandraK, I would highly recommend eating at La Zucca. It is right off the Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio. You need to make a reservation to be sure to get a table.
